Yohann Paris

Senior web developer from the French Alps.

I build web applications, data visualisations, and software for people who need clear, useful tools.

Over the past 20+ years, I have worked across Canada, the United States, Switzerland, and France on a mix of platforms, products, and interactive experiences. I like projects that combine solid engineering, thoughtful interfaces, and close collaboration with the people using them. Native French speaker, I'm also fluent in English.

Selected Work

A few projects that show the range of the work: product development, data storytelling, and long-running platforms.

Terarium

A large open-source platform where I worked across backend services, front-end applications, and infrastructure.

  • Worked across APIs, UI components, data flows, and deployment.
  • Helped shape a product used by researchers and engineers across multiple institutions.
  • Contributed heavily to the Open-source codebase and to the day-to-day technical direction.

Atlantis

A platform for exploring and managing large collections of technical information.

  • Worked on ingestion, search, metadata, and the front-end experience.
  • Helped turn a messy information space into something more navigable and useful.
  • Built pieces across backend services, front-end code, and supporting tools.

Brookings Institution

Public-facing interactive work where the challenge was making complex ideas clear and engaging.

  • Created more than 30 interactive publications in JavaScript, D3, and Mapbox.
  • Took ownership of analytics infrastructure with BigQuery, Google Analytics, and Google Tag Manager.
  • Work was featured by the New York Times, CNN, and the Washington Post.

Earlier Foundations

Earlier in my career, I worked directly with clients on custom applications and learned a lot from small teams and hands-on delivery.

  • Built a custom inventory system at The Metrick System that saved a client roughly $50,000 per year.
  • Worked on backend development and testing during internships in France and Switzerland.
  • Built the habits that still matter most to me: clear code, good structure, and respect for users.

What I Bring

I am at my best when a project needs both hands-on implementation and a broader view of how the whole thing should fit together.
